Paiute Park is easily missed as it is tucked into a neighborhood and you can’t see much grass from the road. It is an older park and could definitely use some love and attention from the city. Sadly I saw lots of trash and graffiti covering a lot of the park. It is not my favorite place, but it’s a fun place to stop by and play if you are looking for a fun playground and fun splash pad! Hopefully the improvements in the surrounding neighborhoods mean some clean up for the park.
Splash Pad
In the city of Scottsdale, they are called spray poles. This park has spray circles, spouts, faucet, fountain and poles. The central button turns them on. The water starts out slowly in the circles in the front / west side and then circles around to the poles. Not all the poles were spraying on the day we visited. At first the steam is weak, however it gets much better. Nothing too rough for my (almost) two year olds. Noticeably missing were the dolphin and spray elephant that I saw in pictures. There are a few benches nearby that appeared to all stay dry and one ramada that had some shade.
Playground
This park features a big kid playground and little kid playground that are directly next to each other in sand. There are only two sings and they are toddler swings. The big kids playground has three slides, the middle on is my favorite, a quick drop leaves me on my butt. My kids laugh at me every time. There is lots of climbing and even a bridge to cross. The small kids playground has a rock / step wall, two slides and an airplane theme my son loved. There is also a fun set of drums to drum on.
Picnic
There are two drop in ramadas that provide shade. There are a few covered picnic tables that have some shade in the afternoon.
Park
This 8 acre park features a spray pad, playground, lighted basketball court, lighted soccer fields you can reserve, sand volleyball court, two drop in ramadas, and a restroom. Soccer fields requests must be submitted a minimum three days in advance. Tennis courts are “closed until further notice” according to the city’s website. The park is amenities are first come first serve. If you are planning on having a catered event, inflatables or any specialty item they ask that you call the facility in advance to verify the company’s insurance information.
Getting There
This park is not on a main road. There is a sign off Osborn at 66th Street to turn at. You will go down a few blocks and it is on the right. There is a sign, but the actual park is set back from the road.
