Vista Del Camino Park in Scottsdale is part of the Scottsdale Greenbelt, between Thomas and McKellips. It’s a great area in South Scottsdale to spend time outside. There is a walking path, lots of places to play sport, playgrounds, a lake and of course, a splash pad!

Splash Pad

My kids love this splash pad! There are fountains that spray up, two circles, one palm tree and a whale fin that was not spraying on the day we were there. Large and spread out so that lots of kids could all share in the water activities. There is a little standing water that smaller kids could sit in and play, while still being close enough to older brothers and sisters and parents can stay mostly dry. There is also a concrete climbing area for big kids to climb, it doesnt have water sprayed on it, so it’s not too slippery. The water from the spray poles all drain into the lake. There is a bench that is about 100 feet away if you need to keep your stuff dry. The rest is surrounded by grass that gets a little wet. But there is plenty of room for adults to stay dry but still close to kids getting wet. And if you want to get a little cool off with the kids, you can easily walk through.

On the day we were there we met more dogs in the splash poles that kids. There are a lot of dogs walking in the area so I am not surprised.

If you want to park closest to the splash pad, pull in at the community center off Rosevelt and follow the driveway around and you will find this parking lot.

Playground

Vista Del Camino North Playground got a much-needed remodel in 2022! I love that the entire climbing structure is covered with a large shade canopy. The toddler and kid swings are not shaded. The climbing equipment is new and fun, nothing too big or crazy for little kids. The City of Scottsdale says the wood chips are upgraded ADA compliant and cleaner.

Picnic

Vista Del Camino Park in Scottsdale has a total of nine ramadas. Six are drop in and three are reservable. There are picnic tables scattered throughout the park. Reservations can be made for picnic areas, ramadas and rooms at the community center by calling the Facility Booking office

Getting There

There is lots of parking all over, however the lot closest to the splash pad is hard to miss. You will pull in to the east of the community center building and follow the driveway around to the large parking lot north of the building. There is street parking and lots of little parking lots throughout the park.

  1. Thank you for the recommendation. We ended up only being able to stay about 10 minutes before homeless people came and started bathing in the water. It was unfortunate, but certainly not sanitary or safe as there was mental illness/outbursts as well. It seemed like it was going to be such a cool place. Did you have any experience with this?

  2. We haven’t had this experience with past visits, but we also haven’t visited in a couple years. I would suggest contacting the Scottsdale Parks and Rec department with your concerns.
