The Play Factory

The Play Factory has a new location at the Superstition Springs Mall in Mesa. (The previous location at Desert Ridge in Phoenix is permanently closed.)

The new location is very basic. We played for about 1.5 hours on the simple climbing wall, play structure, and bouncy house. There are also a few games like foosball, mini basketball and air hockey. The kids has fun, but they can have fun just about anywhere. We wouldn’t recommend making a special trip to play here. It might be a good local option for families, however, especially if you check Groupon or social media for discounts.

There are no restrooms inside The Play Factory. A couple of benches are available for parents, and two tables for snack time. Toddlers to ages 11 are welcome to play with parent/guardian present; we feel that ages 3-9 would enjoy this place best. Socks are required. They also have drop off options, and some fun craft days. See their Facebook page for more details.

Admission is $6 for 1/2 hour of open play, $9 for 1 hour of open play. Ages 2 and under are free. There is no charge for parents. Hours are 10am-9pm Monday-Saturday, and 11am-6pm on Sunday.

The Play Factory at Desert Ridge has had its shares of ups and downs over the years. The first (and only) time we previously visited was in 2013 and the equipment was worn and dirty, and it wasn’t a fun experience for our daughter.

But in April 2018, Play Factory came under new management again and went through a huge renovation. The result? A fabulous indoor play area that kids and adults will want to return to!

The main area has two climbing walls (at which an employee will need to assist your child – they were always happy to do so!), a huge bouncy house with a slide and an amazing climbing structure. There was also a chalk wall and some smaller toys for quieter play. Our kids happily alternated between all of these. The chalk wall was unexpected but alot of fun, even for parents.

Restrooms are also nearby, as well as drinking fountains. Really appreciated this being easy to access!

There’s a separate gated area for ages 5 and under. The variety of toys and activities are fresh and fun – our three year old enjoyed the balls and play kitchen and mini tunnels. This area is right next to the snack area, so parents can keep an eye on children in both sections.

Speaking of the snack area, we brought our own and ended up trying some of the items on the menu. Don’t expect anything fancy, but for the price, it was decent. We tried the personal pizza, taquitos, and mac n cheese – the kids declared it yummy.

Also in this open area are some arcade type games, air hockey, and a few couches. There also appeared to be a candy shop still in the set up process, so we look forward to visiting again to see what developes.

Hours and admission prices vary, depending on week day or weekend, with the average price being $9/child. They also have a Toddler Tuesday and Thursday price for $5. See their website for more information. They are located inside the Desert Ridge complex.

Overall, we were very happy for this renovation and think the prime location at Desert Ridge will make this a favorite place for families.
