Christopher Creek Lodge near Payson is almost like another world. Tucked away along a creek is this peaceful spot is perfect for families wanting an escape from the Phoenix heat!
This lodge offers four types of accommodations:
- Cabins with 1 queen or king bed + 4 twins, bathroom and kitchen and TV (8 of these units)
- Founders Cabin with 2 queens + 4 twins, bathroom and kitchen and TV (1 of these units)
- Trail bunks with 1 full bunk bed, bathroom and kitchenette and TV (9 of these units)
- Pony Express with 1 queen bed and 2 twins, bathroom and TV (6 of these units)
We stayed in the trail bunk and it was the perfect size for us (Jana + 3 kids). We made all our own meals, using the mini-fridge, stove, microwave, and provided utensils/pots and had no issues! There is no air conditioning but fans are provided, which we only used on occasion. The wifi wasn’t reliable, tho cell service (we have Verizon) worked well.
For community use, there is a playground (swings, a playhouse), horseshoes, a game room with a TV and board games, and grills/firepits with covered picnic tables. And don’t forget about Christopher Creek, the crown jewel of this place! We saw fish, caught crawdads and mini blue butterflies, and spent so much time exploring.
This place quickly became a favorite. There’s an old fashioned charm mixed with modern amenities and we can’t wait to go back!
