Cafe Au Plait in Scottsdale has reopened with new ownership – and a new look! This combo coffee shop and kids play area welcomes families to sip and play in their bright, airy space. We love coffee shops, especially independent ones, and those that offer a kid friendly space are some of our top favorites. (Read about our other favorites here!)
If you were familiar with the previous Cafe Au Plait you will know that it sadly closed earlier this year. With the new owners, you will find two distinct changes. The first is an updated play space, that does not require a fee to enjoy. The second change is an updated menu to include lunch items with the coffee and smoothie offerings! We took a southwest chicken salad to go (it was delicious), and enjoyed a mocha and a couple pastries. We are excited to return and try their kids menu!
Also added is a fabulous collection of items from local businesses! There is clothing, books, baby items, t-shirts, and other unique gift ideas (like Lego people shaped crayons!) So happy Cafe Au Plait is carving out a space to support Phoenix based businesses!
The gated play area at Cafe Au Plait offers a variety of toys for children to enjoy. There are building blocks, a train set, and other familiar toys; our son loved the tool workbench the most! A play kitchen set with dishes will keep kids happy too, as well as a modest collection of books. We also spied coloring books and crayons! Overall, there was a nice variety that kept even our 8 year old enjoyed. (That said, this play area is clearly designed for younger children. Older children might want to bring their own book or activities if you plan on staying long.) There is a long table with chairs at the far end of the play space. We loved desert vibe mural on the wall!
If you’re looking for a new location for play dates or just want to chill while your kids play, Cafe Au Plait is a wonderful option. Maybe we’ll see you there!
