Scottsdale held their very first Night Owl Run in 2013 and the event is scheduled again in spring 2014. Unlike most places, it gets hot in Arizona, and the night time run in Scottsdale is actually very pleasant. Jana ran in this event and it was a lot of fun for the whole family.
Here’s some video from the event in 2013 that I captured of the starting line. The distance was an 8k, although they also had a 3 mile fun-run-and-walk that was very popular with kids and the those who didn’t want to run the full 8k.
The 8k run began at 8 pm in Scottsdale, AZ and the run was a loop, so onlookers didn’t need to move away from the Civic Center Mall, which was nice. There were also food trucks and the kids wear glow sticks. This video shows the start of the race (Old Town Scottsdale’s AZNightRun).
