Did you hear that Mountain View Park in Scottsdale under went a huge renovation? Two thumbs up to the City of Scottsdale for this amazing transformation. We’ve loved this park for years, even if the equipment was older, and are happy to report that the update kept some of the charm while making it fresh and exciting to kids and parents.
Playground
There are two playgrounds, for younger and older kids, plus a swing set with two baby swings and two regular swings. Both playgrounds have some fun age appropriate features, like balancing steps and climbing nets. There are also some stand alone play options, like a four person teeter-totter, two spinning chairs, and a mini climbing wall.
The biggest update? This is now a woodchip park! We prefer sand (and this park use to have a water spigot and table that the kids loved), but woodchips are the new feature that parents seem to favor.
We are also happy to report that the beloved dino ride was kept. It’s a small accent, but Mountain View Park wouldn’t be the same without it. The couple picnic tables and benches around the playground were also kept. The playground is also mostly shaded. The shade from the swings was removed.
Park
Mountain View Park in Scottsdale offers many amenities. There is a lighted basketball and and tennis courts, volleyball courts, three soccer fields, a 12 station exercise course, and a baseball diamond. Restrooms are located near, but not next to, the playgrounds and are always amazingly clean. Drinking fountains are by the playground.
This location also has a community center, offering two activity rooms, a kitchen, reservable stage, and more. There is an after school program available M-F for 1st-8th graders. More information can be found here. Use the phone number below to reserve a room in the center.
The parking lot is huge, but can get crowded and crazy on the weekends when it’s game season.
One reason we love this park is because it’s next to the Indian Bend Wash Path! This is perfect for bikes and scooters, walks, jogs, or exploring for little ones. Take the path past the playground, and it will descend a bit to the main trail. Go left for the mile walk to Mustang Library (and over the 101, always fun for kids). Or go right, where there is a tunnel! Continuing further, maybe a mile, will take you to Marguerite Lake, which we love.
