The Scene in Tempe

Jana Tingom

The Scene is a pop up event full of color and unique art experiences that will delight children, and bring out the smiles in adults as well! There are 13 themed rooms in the 3,500 square foot area to enjoy with a combination of hands on action or by simply snapping a photo memory to enjoy forever.

We visited The Scene last week with our kiddos. They were immediately drawn to the huge inflatable rubber duck in the lobby!  (Hint: keep that yellow duck in mind as you take your tour of the rooms. There will be 1,350 of them!)  Tickets for the tour are available online only, offered in 15 increments, and the walk thru takes about an hour. It’s worth noting that it’s a one way tour. Once you leave a room, you’re not able to go back so be sure to take in the full experience before moving on!

Some of the room themes include music, movement, and surprises behind closed doors. We won’t spoil the visit by revealing all the themes! Our kids loved the merry go round and swing! There’s a nice variety of touch and don’t touch items for little ones. Some items, like the candy room, might be tough for kids to keep away from. But the variety of color is amazing!

Why visit The Scene? It’s a great photo opportunity! If fun Instagram photos or creative backgrounds are your thing, this is the place to go. This is also a fun experience for the sake of exposing children to unique art forms. Have you been surrounded by glow in the dark slinky’s hanging from the ceiling? (You can pull and release them too!) Or what about walking through a 23,000 yard rainbow ribbon forest? This event would be fun as a date night too!

You can get another feel for what you’ll find by viewing our short YouTube video here:

Tickets to The Scene are $30/person, kids 3 and under are free. They are open Thursday-Sunday, 12pm-10pm. More info can be found on their website. Remember, tickets can only be purchased in advance.
