Dogtown Lake near Williams is one of our top 10 favorite places to camp in Arizona with kids! We loved our weekend stay at this out of the way, but easily reached campground.

Dogtown Lake is about 20 minutes south of Williams, AZ, with two dirt roads to reach the campground. Our campsite was tidy upon arrival, and there where plenty of sturdy pine trees to hang out hammocks and ninja course. The restrooms are simple vault toilets, but they were always well stocked and clean thanks to the friendly camp hosts.

The star of this campsite is of course the lake! No swimming or electric boats allowed, but you can fish, kayak, paddle board, canoe, or use gas powered boats. We caught some decent sized rainbow trout the first morning! The sunsets were fantastic. The lake is about a 5 min walk from the campsites.

If you need some extra activities, drive back to Williams for the canyon coaster, zip line, drive-thru zoo, deer farm, indoor aquatic center, ice cream and coffee shops, cute shops, and a playground. There are also numerous yummy restaurants (our fav is Pine Country Restaurant).

Dogtown Lake is open May 06, 2022 – September 25, 2022 (Peak Season) – $26/site per night. September 30, 2022 – May 01, 2023 is Out of Season – No Booking Available. There are 50 campsites available, all accessible; Restrooms, garbage bins and water faucets are available, however, there is no dump station at the facility. More info on their website.
