Scottsdale Indoor Play Area Playtime Oasis

Chris and Jana Tingom

NOTICE: Playtime Oasis is permanently closed.

But here are some other great indoor play areas that we recommend:

PlayGrounds Fun Zone and Cafe (Glendale)

Jubeelieve Indoor Play Place (Avondale)

Makutu’s Island (Chandler)

Party Jungle (Phoenix)

Giggles Indoor Playland (Chandler)

Playtime Oasis is an indoor play area for children, connected to The Dollhouse and Toy Store. Both are worth a stop!

When you first walk in, toys for every age welcome you. Musical instruments, dress up clothes, blocks, books, travel games, Melissa and Doug brand favorites, developmental toys– it’s all here and then some. It’s fun to browse and get ideas. While some items are slightly overpriced, if you need a last minute, unique gift for a child, this is the place to come.

Be sure to wander to the back of the store for the collection of dollhouse furniture too. There’s everything needed to set up your own, or just enjoy the miniatures already displayed. Our daughter loved playing with the small dollhouse set up on the floor, complete with wooden beds and small bedding.

The other half of this store is the play area. The cost is $9/person (infants and adults free) and geared more for ages 5 and under. You are welcome to play as long as you like (socks are a must); a small area is set aside for snacking and storing shoes. A bathroom with a changing table is at the back.

There are over a dozen play stations, including a kitchen, child size exercise equipment, a miniature castle, a train table, a chalk/magnet wall, and soft blocks for the imagination. A small corner was thoughtfully set aside for infants, toys included, but it is not sectioned off. There are two comfy couches for seating, and plastic lawn chairs available as extra. The walls are colorful with a fun Dr. Suess theme.

Emily, almost four, checked out everything in great detail, her favorites being the play kitchen and the manga tiles (she built an impressive castle with a friend). Two fun mirrors on one side gave her some laughs too, she looked so tall in one and short in another! She was disappointed there wasn’t any crafts or activities. Owen at 5 months had a grand time watching other kids, and banging on the bead maze! We stayed for almost 3 hours and probably could have had fun even longer if it weren’t lunch time.

It’s nice to have an indoor play area less than a mile from our home, and close to shopping like Scottsdale Quarter. The price seems a bit much for what toys are available; but we’ll likely be back to stay busy over the hot summer months, and plan to check out their Tuesday morning story time!

  1. Just heard about your great resource & want to thank you for such a great write up. Would it be possible to make one correction? We are geared for 5 & under, not 8 & under.
    Thank you

  2. Also, Rock the Spectrum closed. We took our autistic grandson there and he loved it. Is there any place similar near Scottsdale? Thanks!

  3. Hi Patty! We were not aware that We Rock the Spectrum is closed. There is no indication on their website or Instagram, unless we missed something? (This is the location near Cactus and Tatum, correct?) As far as other places for your grandson, are you looking for general play areas or ones that are autistic friendly?
