Spring Training in Phoenix With Kids. Let me tell you all about the exciting baseball season that’s coming up!

If you’re thinking of taking the family out to catch some games during Spring Training, there are a few things you should know. Back in the day, we could see some of the best players without breaking the bank. But these days, the prices have gone up a bit. So, if you’re looking for cheap tickets, keep in mind that some teams use something called “dynamic pricing.” That means you might pay more depending on the opponent and the day of the week.

But don’t worry, there are still ways to have fun and save a bit of money. For example, if you’re a fan of a big market team, consider going to some of their away games at smaller stadiums. You might get a chance to see your favorite players up close and personal.

Before you head to the ballpark, make sure to check the stadium’s website for any special rules. Some of them require clear bags, while others only allow sealed bottles of water and snacks that are still sealed in the package. And don’t forget to put on sunscreen before you go! Most stadiums have it available around the park, or for sale in the gift shop.

Here are a few more tips to make your day at the ballpark even more fun:

  • Buy your tickets early, especially if you want a specific spot to sit in.
  • Arrive early! You never know who you might see coming and going, and it’s a great chance to grab some autographs.
  • Check out the stadium’s website to see if they have any fun activities for the kids. Some of them even have pitching contests and giveaways.
  • Look for mascots, and snag a photo!

Here is a brief summary of what you might find for kids at each ballpark.

At Peoria Stadium, there’s a splash pad with a pirate theme, a kid-friendly concession stand, and a big berm for the kids to run around on. Plus, it’s one of the best places to get autographs during Spring Training.

If you’re heading to Goodyear Ballpark, your older kids might enjoy playing corn hole or a giant game of Jenga. There are also batting and pitching games, and plenty of kid-friendly concessions like shaved ice and Dippin’ Dots. And along the right-field line, there’s even a kid-sized baseball diamond where they can play Wiffle Ball.

Over at Hohokam Stadium, there’s a big berm with seating near both bullpens, and a kids zone that includes a speed pitching game. And on the right field line, your kids can try for autographs as the players enter and exit the field.

My personal favorite ballpark is Camelback Ranch-Glendale. As you enter, you’ll see a walk down memory lane and a big lake in the outfield. There are also giant bobblehead figures of Tommy Lasorda and Frank Thomas that your kids will love to get a picture with! The berm is large, so there’s plenty of space for the kids to run around, and there are even a few games in the outfield to keep them entertained. And when all else fails, grab a slice of that 18-inch pizza.

At Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, the kid’s zone is sponsored by Cold Stone Creamery, so you can grab your favorite ice cream treat and play some Wiffle Ball or pitching games. And after Sunday games, your kids can even run the bases for free.

There are a few ballparks that don’t offer designated kids areas, like Maryvale Park. More information about ballparks, games schedules, and more can be found here

Spring training games are a perfect way to bond with your kids and make memories that last a lifetime. I know that taking a family out to games can be expensive, but don’t worry! Just make sure to plan ahead and look for good deals. You and your little ones will have a fantastic time at spring training in Phoenix!

A Poem About Spring Training in Scottsdale

Beneath the sun in Scottsdale,

A diamond gleams in golden light.

The crowds all gather, young and old,

To cheer and revel in the sight.

The players take the field with pride,

Their cleats digging in the dirt.

With crack of bat and snap of glove,

The fans are eager to assert.

The smell of hot dogs in the air,

And peanuts by the score.

The vendors shout with glee and cheer,

As they hawk their baseball store.

The kids all laugh and run and play,

As families gather round.

And with the crack of every hit,

A joyous cheer resounds.

Spring Training in Scottsdale,

A time for fun and play.

A chance to celebrate the sport,

In a most delightful way.
