Kiwanis Park in Tempe

Kim Gudykunst Ollerhead

Kiwanis Park in Tempe is one of the largest and best parks in my opinion. It has a little bit of everything for everyone! From the latest and greatest in playgrounds, to a splash pad, and even a lake, we find ourselves here quite a bit.

The Cloud at Kiwanis Park

The largest of the splash pads in Tempe is The Cloud in Tempe. Feature signature blue canopy resembling a cloud, the 5,000-square-foot water attraction has various water features, from loops and hoops to swizzle sticks. There’s also a storm sequence with thunderous sound effects.

Seasonal Hours: Daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. April through October

North Playground

The playground closest to the splash pad is old and outdated, but has its benefits, such as the large shade covering the majority of it. This simple playground has swings, car, slides, and some climbing features. While it is not the newest playground, it is nice that it is fully shaded.

Note, the City of Tempe is looking into remodeling this playground.

South Playground

Some playgrounds are too good to be true, and this is true for the south side of the Kiwanis Park playground. The city has done a great job with this playground! They have kept the large tower that has been there for years, along with other features such as a large faux house kids can play in and mixed it with new features such as rubber floor to make it more accessible.

The addition of the rubber ground makes parts of the playground more accessible.

Park

Kiwanis Park in Tempe includes a baseball diamond, basketball courts, batting range, soccer fields, softball fields, volleyball courts, tennis courts, fishing, grills, horseshoes, lake, picnic tables, ramadas, grills, multiple playgrounds, splash pad and restrooms.
