If you have little ones, you’ll want to check out Mother Nature’s Farm Pumpkin Patch in Gilbert! We went during opening weekend September 2023 shortly after the 9am opening so it wasn’t very crowded. It was nice not having to wait in any lines! The weather was in the 90s so it was hot if you were standing in the sun, but the farm offered plenty of shade opportunities. This is a great pumpkin patch for little ones and doesn’t break the bank.
My family of four (myself, my husband, 2.5-year-old and 7-month-old) went to opening weekend at Mother Nature’s Farm this year! The farm opens at 9am every day so we went shortly after opening to take full advantage of our time there before naptime.
Parking & Admission
Parking was free and plentiful. We walked right up to the gift shop to pay our entrance fee. Tickets are $15 per person (our infant was free), but they have a $2 off coupon on their website if you plan ahead! Every paying customer will receive a sticker to wear for the day which gives you access to all of the farm’s activities, including the hayride and a small pumpkin to take home. You have the option of paying with cash or a credit card. If you use a card, there is a 3.5% credit card fee. Concession stands inside the farm are cash only.
Once you pay, you have two options. You could go directly into the large pumpkin patch where you can buy your own pumpkin (prices range from $2-$40). Or, the option you will most likely choose, you can follow the little chicken feet painted on the ground through the gift shop and into a cute trail covered with corn stalks which will lead you to the farm’s activities. When you get to the end of the trail, you’ll see a big map of the farm so you can decide where to go first!
Meeting the Animals
Home Sweet Home Sanctuary at Mother Nature’s Farm is a non-profit sanctuary for farm animals. All of the animals you will see have been brought to them for one reason or another. We saw turtles, chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, cows, donkeys, pigs, and llamas! All of the animals were behind fences and weren’t running around on the paths.
If you plan on feeding the animals, I recommend stopping at the Carrot Shack first to pick up a $5 bucket of carrots so you already have them when you meet the animals. You can also rent a stroller at this shack for $10 if you don’t bring your own. We brought ours and found all of the paths to be stroller-friendly! There are coin machines with feed in them for 25 cents near some of the animals too, so you’ll want to bring quarters with you if you plan on using those.
Things to Do
Activities at the farm this year included several bounce houses (located in the party areas), slides, pedal car rides, a bull roping area, corn pits, human hamster wheels, picking out your pumpkin at the OZ pumpkin patch, web climbing, a toddler-sized straw maze, a hayride, a few different activities at the play houses, and face painting. All of these are included with the price of admission with the exception of face painting (prices range from $5-$12 and multiple forms of payment are accepted).
On the hayride a tractor pulled our trailer which had bench seating with a shade overhead. There are two pick-up locations so you can get on at different spots in the farm and use it to get to the other side. Be advised that the ride is very bumpy. We also had to leave our stroller behind and unattended while we were on the ride.
There are lots of photo opportunities at this farm! If you don’t want anyone in your photos, I suggest going the first two weeks the farm is open. After that, the farm tends to get busier.
Food & Drinks
There are food and drinks available at Maneau’s Munchies which is near the OZ Pumpkin Patch. They have hotdogs, nachos, pretzels, popcorn, peanuts, chips, cookies, candy, water, coffee, and more!
You can also bring your own food into the farm. There is plenty of picnic seating in the shade. A lot of the tables are in the party areas near the bounce houses so there is also something close by for the kids to do when they’re done eating.
There is a hand washing station next to the porta-potties if you want more than just hand sanitizer. There were unfortunately no visible diaper changing stations near the bathrooms.
The Details
Mother Nature’s Farm is between Gilbert and Cooper on the south side of Baseline.
There is lots of parking off Baseline, they open up the grassy area in the front for overflow. There are signs that point you in the right direction of where to park when it gets busy.
The farm hosts other events during the fall and throughout the year such as Military Monday, Blushing Peach Face Painting BBQ battles, snow days and sells trees closer to Christmas. Be sure to check the calendar online for other events!
