The children’s area was amazing! A large selection of books from board books to chapter books. There is also a large area for kids to play as well as snuggle up and read.

Kits are available to check out. They range from cake pans to learning to read.

In addition to a large stash of books, there is a great play area for kids. From a play kitchen and train table to educational toys, there is something for all ages. The kids could have played in here for hours.

Fun details around the library such as this dino hunt!

This is a cozy spot for teens to do homework or read.

Home-School

I love this section for homeschooling parents. Lots of great resources for parents who home school. There is additional information for homeschooling and teachers on their website here.

I don’t know about you, but I often don’t know how to start a tough conversation with people. I was beyond impressed with this Tough Topics Kits section. If you or someone you know needs more information on a tough topic, they can visit the library, grab a kit and check it out. It will not show on your library card that you checked out the topic. You can have it checked out for three weeks.  I thought this was such a nice touch.

Chapter 2 Books

Most libraries have a couple of shelves of books for sale, this one has an entire wing of the library! This volunteer-driven bookstore consists of more than 15,000 books, DVDs, music CDs, audiobooks, and puzzles of all genres and interests. There are also one-of-a-kind books that feature local authors. They offer book sales once a month. Check the website here for more information.

Events

Desert Foothills Library has a long list of events and classes from baby storytime to how to retire. We recently attended Mother Goose Storytime and had a blast. This class was recommended for ages 1 to 6 and was interactive. I did notice it was a little too long for the younger kids.
