Scheels in Chandler is opening Sept 30, 2023 in Chandler Fashion Center and here’s what you need to know, and why your family will want to check it out! This is a one stop for fun, fashion, outdoor gear and more. There are 75 specialty departments where outdoor enthusiasts and sports fans can shop. It will be a destination for family fun with games, bowling alley, an aquarium and even Ferris wheel!
Note: all photos are from the Scheels location in Utah, which will be very similar to this new location. We will update this post and information when the Chandler store is open.
Knowing that a location was opening in Chandler, we stopped by one in Utah on a summer road trip to see what it was all about. We explored the whole store, rode the ferris wheel, checked out all the fun family activities and browsed the toys. I can see small kids enjoying the free entertainment; my five year olds were definitely ready to spend all the money on games!
Ferris Wheel
The 65 foot tall ferris wheel costs $1 a person to ride. My son ran right to the sign and we both thought he was just barely tall enough to ride alone. He was so excited he bought his ticket and got in line. The attendant said he was just shy of the 48″ height minimum to ride alone. He was nice enough to let my daughter and I join him. It was a fun ride, great view of the entire store as well as the surrounding area from the top.
The kids enjoyed looking through some of the outdoor gear. I liked being able to physically see a lot of these items in person. Definitely better than reading online reviews at times.
Family Entertainment
There are arcade games, a taxidermy display of animals and aquarium. The location we visited had a few photo ops as well. While the small aquarium and animals are free to observe, the games all cost money.
Ginna’s Café
This cafe featured a large menu of options. I enjoyed the fresh made sandwich and the kids liked the Mac and Cheese, although I’m pretty sure it was just Kraft.
Fuzziwig’s Candy Shop
This large old fashioned candy shop was directly next to the cafe in the location we visited.
We’re excited to visit the Scheels in Chandler and have this fun local in Phoenix!
