Paseo Vista Recreation Area and Park in Chandler

Although the fun is not visible from the street when you make it up the hill and find this playground in Chandler you will not be disappointed. We loved the walls made from recycled tires. The playgrounds have a cool double-decker structure that has a “jail”, slides, tractor to climb on, giant web climbing structure, rock wall, tire swings, and lots more for all ages.

Playground

These wood chip playgrounds had some fun unique features. We loved the walls made from recycled tires. The playgrounds have a cool double-decker structure that has a “jail”, slides, tractor to climb on, giant web climbing structure, rock wall, tire swings, and lots more for all ages.  It is spread out and the hilly double-decker playground could make it a lot harder to keep track of your kids.

Archery

This archery area was a rare find. While we were here, there was one person who was practicing. We did not disturb him or as any questions, we simply watched.  I quietly Googled a few facts to share with the kids because they had never seen it before and I didn’t really know much about the sport. Classes are available to valley residents, for more information click here.  More information on the park’s programs is available here. City of  Chandler Break Time Guide here.

Picnic

There are various shaded ramadas throughout the park. Definitely worth looking on the paseo vista rec area map to pick where you want to go.

Park

The Paseo Vista Recreation Area and Park in Chandler offers 2 play areas, disc golf, walking trails, a dog park, archery range, pavilions, lots of room for exploring, and public restrooms.

The Paseo Vista Recreation Area sits atop a former City landfill. For nearly 30 years it was a working landfill, a large man-made dirt mound with sloping sides rising above the streets and nearby houses. Then Chandler made the investment to give this place a new purpose. Today, the slopes still dominate the landscape but they are covered with boulders encased in wire to help control erosion, decomposed granite, wildflowers, and other plants.

Most of the amenities, including an archery range, disc golf course, dog park, playground, picnic areas, and more than a mile of walking trails, are not visible from the streets below. Make the worthwhile walk, ride or drive to the top of the hill to be able to appreciate and enjoy the Paseo Vista Recreation Area.

Hiking is rocky, but still stroller friendly.

We loved this recreational area. I have to admit, even visiting in December it’s quite warm with not a lot of shade. So don’t forget your sunscreen and water year-round.

Getting There

GPS will take you to a large parking lot where there is plenty of parking. If you are visiting the playground head south. If you are looking for the archery area head north. There are a couple of signs that show where everything is laid out.
