With a serene landscape and nature vibes, the new Backland Glamping Resort Near Williams will breathe life into your soul. We were expecting a peaceful getaway but did not expect to carry that peace home. Backland offers a secluded glamping experience for couples and families while providing modern lodging, a restaurant, and activities.

There are currently 10 glamping tents at Backland, which can sleep 4-6 people. All tents come with a king-size bed, queen sofa bed, private bathroom (with shower, sink, and toilet), and a floor to ceiling patio doors with amazing views. There’s also heat and air conditioning, a small mini fridge and microwave, plus a Kuerig with complimentary coffee. Some tents have a skylight dome as well. Towels and linens are provided.

Our family was very comfortable and loved the cozy vibe without feeling cramped! And we learned later, that the tent itself is insulated, not a thin sheet of canvas – so no worries about babies crying in the middle of the night and waking up neighbors. We also loved how the glamping tents were spaced; we saw our neighbors from the patio but it didn’t feel constricted at all.

What sets Backlack apart from other glamping experiences is the on-site restaurant. Offering farm-to-table food for dinner and breakfast, each dish is hand prepared by a chef, and the menu changes as availability changes.

We were blown away by the entrees! From the medium rare streak to the fettuccini Alfredo to the handmade chicken strips, everything was delicious and flavorful. And if available, get the Vegetable Fritti appetizer. So amazing.

Breakfast was delicious as well! The menu was smaller, but the kids devoured their pancakes and sausage, while the adults had omelets and perfectly seasoned potatoes. Pricing for meals ranges from $15-$50 for dinner and $12-$24 for breakfast.

The dining area is part of a larger building with glass walls, and here you’ll also find the welcome desk, a restroom, and a lounge area. In the lounge area, you’ll find comfortable sofas, a fireplace, games, puzzles, and books for all ages. The kids were tickled to find some favorites, and also learn a few new ones! Outside seating is also available, and continue down to the pond and patio area.

Amenities at Backland are simple but full of fun. There’s a beautiful pond to explore by kayak, and you can also fish or just enjoy the sandy beach. (Ask at the welcome desk for complimentary fishing gear, as well as to sign a waiver for the kayaks.) We’re kayak lovers already, and the pond has several inlets to enjoy with wildlife like ducks and frogs, and other birds.

Also at the welcome desk, you can borrow binoculars to view wildlife on the nature trails. Other complimentary activities include s’mores and stargazing in the evening and geo-catching. An on-site spa tent offers various treatments for an additional charge, and coming in 2023 is horseback riding! Just ask the receptionist for details on any of these options.

Backland is located about 20 minutes from Williams, AZ in Northern Arizona. Note that once you exit Interstate 40, the roads will mostly be hard-packed dirt roads, that can get muddy with rain. 4-wheel drive is not needed (our mini-van did fine, just needed a good wash once home). If you’re looking to explore nearby, here’s a list of things to do in Williams, or Flagstaff (40 minutes away).

Thanks to Backland for hosting us on their beautiful property! Learn more on their website.

  1. I can say that in today’s world with everything just a push of the finger away that adults and children don’t get a true appreciation of the outdoors or exercise even as when I was a kid growing up.. I truly have to say thank you to the ones that are bringing things like this back but doing it in 2022 in such a cool fun way that make the kids want to go here for vacation instead of the beach because there is so much more fun activities for them to do even for the adults. I honestly just wanted to say what a breath of fresh air and thank you much. What an exciting and fun way to bring family together again….thank you. …

  2. So glad you enjoyed the post and YES, anything to get families together and outside in nature is just the best. Hope you can visit Backland soon!

  3. Just a quick check and 3 nights came out to nearly $2000. Sorry, but this type of stuff is elite Scottsdale fluff. Average people cannot afford this.
