KOA’s in Arizona: Affordable Stay and Family Fun. KOA stands for Kampgrounds of America, and you may have seen signs for this popular overnight option during road trips. It was founded in 1962 and has 500 locations across the US and Canada!
10 of these KOA locations are in Arizona, with camping and RV options. Cabins are at select locations, and amenities vary but usually include a pool and a playground. Some places offer fun options like go-karts (Williams and Tucson locations)!
We had never stayed at a KOA until October 2021, during a three-day weekend in southeastern Arizona. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin at the Willcox KOA and loved it! The cabin also had a bathroom and full kitchen, perfect for our family of five. Nearby was a playground, which the kids loved, and the Roadrunner Cafe where we had breakfast the following morning. There was also a pool but we didn’t get a chance to use it. We would totally stay here again! The location was right off the Interstate, and just 5 minutes from downtown Willcox.
