Beauty and the Beast with Hale Centre Theater in Gilbert is showing now through August 19. This is a classic tale about a young woman named Belle from a small village in France who finds herself caught up in an amazing adventure after her father is kidnaped by a monster. She sacrifices herself and takes his place, discovering a castle full of magic, and unexpected friendships and love.
The Hale Theater is a theater in the round, with the circular stage in the center of the stadium style seating. This arrangement makes sure everyone has a great view of the action, and often, you may find yourself in the middle of the action, when the actors come up or down the steps that surround the audience, using every available space to craft their story.
This production of Beauty and the Beast really brought the adventure to life in a spectacular way. The acting is incredible, the scenery is beautiful. The singing and dancing is captivating, and the costumes are fantastic. There’s a fun surprise waiting for the audience at the end of the “Be Our Guest” number that will have you and your kids laughing with delight. My girls are ages 12, 10, and 7, and they each loved our time at the theater. We walked out dancing and singing all the way to the car, and they couldn’t wait to watch the movie again after we got home.
The Hale Theater is located on Page Street, in the heart of downtown Gilbert, across from Liberty Market and the water tower. Parking is close and free, with two large public parking lots and the end of Page street, and limited street parking in front of the building. Going to a play is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening enjoying excellent entertainment in the air conditioning during the Arizona summer heat.
Run time is 2 hours and 15 minutes. During intermission, a cart is moved onto the stage and guests can purchase candy and snacks. Tickets cost $20 for youth and $52 for adults.
The Hale Centre Theater in Gilbert invites guests ages 5 and up to come enjoy this family friendly classic musical. The show is almost sold out, so be sure to get your tickets soon. My family loved this play, and we are excited to return for next season’s line up.
