Dive into the fantastic world of creativity at this year’s Canal Convergence in Scottsdale with kids, an art festival, where fun knows no age limit!
Canal Convergence, hosted by Scottsdale Arts, will be open now through Nov 12 along the Scottsdale Waterfront. The theme? “The Power Play.” We’ve been to other free community Canal Convergence events and this one might be the best yet!
Enjoy artworks, interactive displays, and hands-on workshops. Kids will love it! 2023 artworks, featuring interactive wonders like “Aquatics,” “Dice,” “Flario,” “Light Forest,” “Ripple,” and more. These masterpieces will spark your imagination and curiosity. Our 4 year old’s favorite was Octavios the climbable octopus, the swings, and the light bridge. Mom’s favorite was the light game, and fire show! There are 13 works to explore at Canal Convergence this year.
Here’s a quick guide to the Canal Convergence in Scottsdale With Kids!
Location: Art installations line the Arizona Canal, between Camelback Road and Goldwater Boulevard. Expect to walk about 3/4 mile to view all art.
Accessibility: Wheelchair and stroller friendly pathways make the event accessible for all.
Transportation: Free parking garages and spaces nearby, plus easy access via buses and trolleys. We like to park at the garage at 7106E E Stetson Dr, Scottsdale, but it can be difficult to find a spot after 6:30pm.
Augmented Reality: Download the Hoverlay app for augmented reality experiences at some spots.
Cost: Most activities are free, but bring money for food and local art goodies if that interests you. Hours are 6-9pm, and extending to 10pm on Friday and Saturday. More details can be found on their website.
Tips: arrive before 6pm so you can have plenty of time to park and find your way to the art displays. Port-a-potties are onsite. Get a map/program at the booth near the bridge which has a nice map included. Note the times for the fire shows and find a spot near the Mario blocks at least 10 minutes beforehand for a good view. Outside food and drink is allowed.
