The splash pad at The Watermark in Tempe is a little-known place for the kiddos to cool off, set among numerous restaurants and a view of Tempe Town Lake. We were so tickled to find this new to us location, thanks to a Phoenix With Kids follower!
The Watermark is a business center in north Tempe, off Scottsdale Road, just before you cross Tempe Town Lake. There are restaurants and salons, apartments and workspaces, all with amazing views. The splash pad is located on the southeast end of the complex, next to Sweet Republic.
The splash pad is simple, with ten fountains that alternate in height. Kids will love the pattern! (Or maybe not – it did frustrate our toddler sometimes to have a fountain suddenly disappear.) Palm trees surround the area, making it nicely shaded a good portion of the late morning and afternoon for sure. Seating is the concrete barriers around the trees.
What we also loved about this spot was the patches of green grass and access to the popular path around Tempe Town Lake! It’s a great place to take a walk, bike ride, or scooter adventure. The marina is nearby, and if you want to venture further, you can access the small, sandy, North Shore Beach to the west. Or go east and connect to the Scottsdale Greenbelt for more bike-friendly paths.
The splash pad at The Watermark in Tempe is open year-round, 8 am-10 pm, Sunday to Thursday, and 8am-midnight Friday and Saturday. Parking is free at the nearby parking garage. The parking garage was a bit difficult to find. See the image below; the parking garage is circled in yellow.
There are no public restrooms nearby. But there is a bathroom in Sweet Republic that we used after purchasing ice cream. There is also a public restroom 0.4 miles down the walking path near the marina. From the splash pad, facing the lake, turn right/west and you’ll see the restrooms on your right just past the apartment complex.
