We checked out Mortimer Farms in Dewey for the first time over fall break. This 80 acre farm located about an hour north of the valley has been on our bucket list for a while!
I held out for a weekend day so we wouldn’t miss anything in the experience. Knowing what I know now, I would recommend a weekday for sure. The kids had just as much fun on the farm inspired ride as they did the hay ride and barrel train. While my 6 year olds were very patient waiting in line, it was exhausting and frustrating for me. There aren’t designed “lines” to wait it, more of a free for all.
Weekday Farm Games
During the week they have farm-inspired rides, games, activities, the corn maze, pumpkin patch, animal encounters, and more. Please note that hayrides, grain train rides, outside vendors, and shows won’t be available on these days.

Weekend Activities
Each Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Columbus Day, guests are treated to an extensive lineup of shows, entertainment, Grain Train rides, Barrel Train rides, hayrides, and a bustling marketplace. Friday and Saturday, the festivities continue with mesmerizing fire dancers, lively karaoke, spirited barn dances on Friday night, navigating the corn maze in the dark, and more.
Additional Activities
There are a few activities you can add on for additional costs.
Face painting was available. You take a number and wait. We were ticket number 781 and 782 (must have one per kid) and they were on 758 when we got tickets. We did the rides around the area so we wouldn’t miss our number. It took over 90 minutes. If you want face painting, go grab a number and then do the obstacle course, zip line, tire swings, etc in that area.
Food
During the week the farm kitchen is open. On the weekends there are lots of food trucks that join in.
Picking Your Pumpkin
You can pick your pumpkin and you pay by the pound. Alot of people were headed straight there on the Saturday we visited. I saw them bringing out more pumpkins during the day. By the 4pm when we looked, most pumpkins were gone. Friends who went Monday were able to find pumpkins.
Go On A Weekend or Weekday?
We went on a Saturday and I did not enjoy the lines. Lots of friends went on weekdays and the majority of games are available. I can skip the expensive food trucks and tractors pull for less people.
Line on the Saturday that we went above, versus the line on the following Monday to get in.
This Pumpkin Fest & Corn Maze is packed with one-of-a-kind show from wacky circus tricks to amazingly talented motocross trick riders. The shows are enjoyed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday + Columbus Day during the Pumpkin Fest & Corn Maze. All of these shows are included in your festival admission. The MC had an odd sense of humor in my opinion but maybe it was an off day.

A few tips for your trip:
- Bring water to hydrate
- Sunscreen
- If you have a picky eater, pack a lunch. Also get in line before you’re hungry, it’s a long wait.
- Go later in the afternoon. It’s packed getting in on a weekend morning.
- Go during the week for less people
- Bring patience, on weekends there are lines
- If your family is nut free, I overhead that there wasn’t anything from numerous people
- We bought online to save time, however when we arrived their machines were not working and we had an even longer wait
