Peaceful Spot Along the Salt River near Phoenix

Blue Point Recreation Area is a great place to enjoy the natural beauty and wildlife of the Sonoran Desert.

Blue Point Recreation Area, Mesa – 1 mile out and back to a sandy beach along the Salt River. The trail begins behind the restroom in the far back parking lot area. A $10 Tonto Day Pass is required, and can be purchased across the road at the Pebble Beach Recreation Area kiosk.

Blue Point Recreation Area is a small but scenic site on the Lower Salt River in Mesa, Arizona. It is a popular spot for tubing, fishing, birdwatching, and picnicking. It has a large beach, a mesquite grove, and a view of the cliffs on the north side. It is part of the Tonto National Forest and requires a recreation pass to enter. It is open daily from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm, but may be closed due to flash flooding or increased water levels.
