Best Airbnbs for Families in Arizona

It’s no secret that we love exploring Arizona, and we’ve stayed at some of the best Airbnbs for families in Arizona! Most of these places gave us complimentary stays, but our opinions are honest and we truly recommend what is listed!

If you’re looking for activities to do near these accommodations, browse these blog posts for inspiration!

Flagstaff

Possibly one of our favorite Airbnbs has been High Country Hideaway. This 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home (sleeps up to 9 people) has a lovely kitchen/dining area and a cozy living room to chill. The downstairs bedroom also has toys and games, and the kids spent most of the time there! The outdoor porch was also a favorite, with a firepit, grill, and plenty of seating to soak up the views and cooler weather. It was so nice to just relax and enjoy family time!

Another huge plus is that we had access to the BearPaw Clubhouse. This members only activity center is perfect for kids, offering a pool, indoor games, ice cream and snacks, mini golf, and more! Our summer visit was during a heat wave, but we were able to cool off in the afternoons in the pools.

High County Hideaway is located minutes from some great restaurants and activities in Flagstaff (definitely visit The Oakmont, and hike at Picture Canyon), and is about 2 hours from Phoenix! We loved our stay here, and know you will as well.

Munds Park

This 3 bedroom/2 bathroom room has a spacious and comfortable living room, and a full kitchen with everything needed to make meals. There are some toys for littles, board games (we introduced the kids to Stratego!), plus movie and TV options. There’s also a small guest house out back with a queen bed, and sofa.

The real beauty of Big Sky? There are two patios, one in front with rocking chairs, and a half-covered back patio! We. Loved. The. Patios. It just drew us outdoors, for the kids to play in the backyard or just to relax and chat. At night we had s’mores around the firepit (firewood included) too. Trees surround the backyard, and they were just turning colors when we visited.

More fun continues in the backyard game shed! With foosball, pool, darts, and a retro video game console with dozens of options, the kids declared this the Kids Clubhouse! They even spied sleds for the winter months.

Munds Park

Looking for a family-friendly AirBnB up north? Here’s a fun option in Munds Park that includes 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a great room, a large patio and play area for the kids. There was a corner of toys for kids, a closet of games and puzzles for all ages, sleds for winter and so much more!

The cabin is located about 20 min from Flagstaff and about 40 minutes from Sedona. It’s typically at least 20 degrees cooler there than in the valley according to locals! There are nearby trails to hike, a playground, and restaurants

Show Low

This three-bedroom home offers so many amenities – we definitely could have stayed for a week! The kids bedroom is an epic six-bunk bed setup, and has toys and books to enjoy. We probably spent the most time in the game room, which had foosball, ping pong , and basketball setup in the garage. (Bonus: you couldn’t hear the kid noise from the living room.) Don’t forget the swing out back, and the lawn games on the patio!

More than just fun, this modern and cozy home offered a place for our family to relax, recharge, and drink in nature. We had evening s’mores around the fire pit, and then snuggled in the family room in the morning, watching the fireplace glow. We ate out (there are some great restaurants in Show Low!), and also ate at the house, thanks to a well-equipped kitchen.

This place would be perfect for a vacation with the grandparents, or another family. There’s plenty of room to share, and plenty of room to have your own space. This is also a great home base to explore Eastern Arizona any time of the year. Think sledding and skiing in the winter, and hiking and heat respite in the summer. We can’t wait to go back!

The Boho Show Low is located just 3 hours east of Phoenix in beautiful Show Low, AZ. More details and pricing can be found here.

Show Low

Pine Haven located in beautiful Show Low is a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom cabin in the woods.

Amenities in the house include a bunk bed with a twin on top, full on bottom, a pull-out mattress, pack-n-play, high chair, children’s dishes, washer and dryer, Keurig, wine bar, everything you need for cooking at home along with a BBQ and outdoor seating that you will enjoy a peaceful meal.

Outside you can find a Fire pit, horseshoes, corn hole, life-size chess game, sports balls, paddle board, snow sleds, and more.

Payson

If your family is looking for a weekend getaway near Payson, we found a beautiful home that is really tucked away in the mountains.

When you first walk up to the porch, two rocking chairs and a macrame porch swing draw you outside to relax in the fresh air. There is a porch coming off of the front door, and a deck that wraps around almost the rest of the house. On the deck is a gas fire pit, more comfy chairs, a picnic table, and several grills. Just below the deck near the stairs is a hot tub, and a little further into the yard is a fire ring with chairs.

Inside, the living room with a large couch and a huge, squishy bean bag chair gave us lots of extra space to snuggle. The bedroom off the living room has two sets of bunk beds, and the lower beds are full size. This room also has a bin full of toys! Board games and corn hole are under the beds.

Everywhere we looked there were bears. Pictures, light switch plates, rugs, mirrors, statuettes, even a toilet brush holder! The bear theme was very endearing, and not overdone. I think the owner must have a knack for decorating, because the cuteness continued into the back yard, where a circular path wound its way around the garden, leading us through a story book fantasy land. There was always something fun to explore. The kids had a great time walking this loop over and over again looking for the fun scenes.

There is a full kitchen with lots of cooking amenities, including a coffee bar. A dining room table that converts into a pool table is large enough to seat about 8 people (10 if you’re not too big)! There is a smaller table in the kitchen as well that seats 4.

When you go through the kitchen, there is a bedroom with a full size bed, a bathroom, and the master bedroom. This room has a fireplace, as well as a window air conditioning unit, and a wooden horse with a saddle that my kids absolutely loved.

This cabin is a perfect location for a private retreat. I would definitely bring my family here again!

Payson

Payson is just 1.5 hours from Phoenix and this Airbnb is a great place to call home while your family explores the area! Heart of Payson offers a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with a spacious kitchen/dining area and a cozy living room to chill. Also included was a pack n play and some toys for littles, and a few games.

We had everything we needed to make breakfast in the morning and found the beds very comfortable. The backyard was our favorite spot! With a hammock, patio chairs/table, a grill, and a firepit, it was so nice to just relax and enjoy family time.

The house is also in a small cul-de-sac, perfect for riding bikes or scooters. Or take a walk around the neighborhood, and down to nearby Ramsey Park. We saw a huge herd of elk one beautiful sunset evening too!

 Phoenix

This 4 bedroom and 4.5 bathroom home in North Peoria is absolutely beautiful – like your own private resort! The spacious rooms are simple and sophisticated, including a connected large kitchen and living room area, perfect for large family gatherings. A side room has shuffleboard and space for games! The real beauty is the back patio, where we spent the majority of our time. The view is unbeatable, with plenty of seating, and a pool and hot tub! A small grassy area to the side gave room for the kids to run. We ate dinners out here, had coffee in the mornings, and relished a light rain while staying cozy under the ceiling heaters.

There are several good parks in the area for kids, including Sonoran Mountain Ranch Park which has easy hiking trails. You’re also 30 min from Lake Pleasant, 15 min from Arrowhead Towne Mall and 20 min from State Farm Stadium.

Pinetop

We started 2023 with a getaway to the White Mountains and shared it with friends!

The Woodvale AZ cabin offers a three-story home with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a full kitchen with two seating areas, and two cozy lounge areas. There is a spiral staircase going from the basement to the main level to the loft, but our kids did fine and there is a detractable gate on the main level + extra gates to set up.

Even with six kids and four adults, the home didn’t feel crowded at all! Some toys and games are provided, there are multiple TVs (we brought our Switch from home for Mario Kart competitions) and we had the extra bonus of a huge snowfall the day before our arrival. The yard was perfect for snow play! And then we could easily come inside to warm up and have hot chocolate.

This Airbnb is located just minutes from some great restaurants and activities in Pinetop, or drive 30 min towards Greer and enjoy Sunrise Ski Resort! But you may just feel drawn, like we did, to stay put and relax. The home would also make a fabulous summer getaway, with a big deck, a grill, and a quiet neighborhood for evening walks.

Pinetop

If a family-friendly adventure sounds good, you will enjoy this cabin in Pinetop, Serenity in the Pines!

The loft-turned-bedroom has 6 bunks, as well as plenty of space for playing. The Master Bedroom was spacious and comfortable with a large master bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub. In the large kitchen, you will find a coffee maker and coffee bar, along with all the basic cooking essentials. We were all able to sprawl out on the couches in the living room.

We found kayaks for kids and adults, fishing poles, soccer, volleyball, spike ball, disc golf and more! The backyard was a great spot for hanging out with a large porch, hammock swings, faux grass area for playing.

Pinetop

Adair Springs Retreat is in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to the White Mountain Trailhead System. You definitely feel like you are in a wild, rustic setting, but convenient amenities are very easy to access!

The cabin itself is 3 bedroom, 1 loft, and 1.5 bathroom. The cabin has everything to host a large family, or a few families wanting to stay together- full kitchen with all cooking utensils you could imagine, gorgeous dining area, games/entertainment galore, and a HUGE backyard! I finally understand what a difference a backyard can make in a trip! There is a play structure with swings, two slides, and kitchen/table, and my kids spent so much time outside. The cabin has an indoor loft with an Xbox 360 and my kids actually chose to be outside!

Also included are outdoor games, Pickleball set, a grill, a fire pit, and kayaks!! Indoors had Roku smart TVs, a record player, indoor fireplace, and a chest filled with board games. We took full advantage of this oasis in the woods and had a great trip grilling, playing board games, and just spending time together outdoors.

The hosts of this rental made sure that every amenity in the house was top of the line- the bedding is soft and warm, there were extra blankets, extremely soft and durable towels, and high quality shampoo/conditioner. The kitchen had top of the line appliances and tools- including an awesome coffee setup (so important to me)! There is even a great guidebook on the counter giving ideas for local fun! We really tried to take advantage of the space and spent a lot of time just being together in the cabin. About 1 mile away is Woodland Lake Park- a great, family-friendly park with a lake, pickleball courts, great playgrounds, fishing, kayak rentals, and a walking path.

Prescott Valley

Escaping the summer heat of Phoenix is always a good idea, and it’s even better when you find a comfy Airbnb. We spent a 4th of July weekend in Prescott and our whole family + Grandma enjoyed exploring as much as we enjoyed relaxing at the house.

This home has 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a large kitchen and living area. The kitchen was decently stocked, and the couches were 100% relaxing. One daughter even slept on the recliner one night, it was that nice! The back patio had space for the kids to explore too.

Location-wise, it was easy enough to get to favorite spots like Watson Lake, or downtown Prescott. It was a bit further out than other places we’ve stayed in the area, but the price was more affordable, and the neighborhood setting vs busy streets of a holiday weekend couldn’t be beat.

Tucson

This 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home in Tucson was such a lovely spot for a short getaway!

The patio is probably our favorite! With provided toys and floaties, the kids were entertained and this mama was happy to chill and watch. So many comfy chairs around the backyard, especially for an early morning cup of coffee.

The kitchen was well stocked, and the beds were comfortable, with each room having its own unique decor style. One bedroom and bathroom is separate from the other bedrooms and bathrooms; this setup would work well for a family with kids + grandparents, or two small families to share! A small basket of toys and books kept our toddler happily entertained.

Another plus of this Airbnb location? You can walk 5 min to a neighborhood playground, and places like Reid Park Zoo and We Rock the Spectrum, or Little Anthony’s Diner and Flora’s Market Run are 5-10 min away! Check out Cowbird Houses the next time you need an overnight spot in Tucson.

On a recent trip to Tucson, we stayed at Casa Palma. This ranch style block house has 4 bedrooms (master, 2 queens and a twin trundle), a spacious interior and incredible backyard. The layout offers a second living room space with a TV, video games, games and books. Perfect for teenagers or separate families to have their own space.

With spacious rooms and outdoor fun, the Grand Canyon Modern Retreat off Route 66 Airbnb is a beautiful home worth bookmarking for any time you need a getaway.

There are two options for families. The first is the downstairs portion of the home, with 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a full kitchen, a living area, a laundry room, and a ping pong table to enjoy. A private patio with a firepit is included, plus the kids will love the swing set, rope swing, and space to run!

The second option is to rent the entire home! Along with the downstairs portion, comes the upstairs with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a laundry room, an amazing kitchen, a dining room and 2 living rooms. A wrap-around porch has plenty of seating and beautiful views! Outside is also a volleyball net, a fire pit, and the shared swing set.

All the rooms are so spacious, and the minimalist decor was very calming. We enjoyed relaxing indoors as much as we did outdoors.

What a great place to have a family reunion or getaway with friends!

  2. Hi! We haven’t stayed in any airbnbs in Mesa, so sorry. Hopefully we will have some to add at some point!

  3. Looking for a nice play to stay up close to Snowbowl for the end of March for 3-4 days. 2 adults and 2 children under 10. Going up to ski. Any ideas for me?

  4. The Snowbowl has little cabins at the base of the mountain, we stayed there this past summer and were very comfortable. Look up Basecamp at Snowbowl!
