Flatiron Community Park in Apache Junction: exploring on the far east of town and need to cool off? Apache Junction now has a splash pad! This small splash pad has a neighborhood feel. Small and quaint. One of the components of the Downtown Revitalization Implementation Strategy (DRIS) was creating a public space in the downtown area of Apache Junction to attract visitors and residents to the hub of local businesses, hence the addition of this splash pad in the community park.

Note: this is a very small splash pad, and not worth the drive unless you live nearby. However, combining it with other activities in the area, like Goldfield’s Ghost Town or hiking/overnight at Lost Dutchman State Park, would make for a fun day.

Splash Pad

This splash pad is simply a handful of fountains spraying up water to run through. There is a picnic table directly next to it for adults to be in the shade.

Note, there is no playground but there is lots of grass for running. There is very little shade for adults and no seating, so a good time to pull out those camping chairs or picnic blanket an umbrella.

Picnic

One ramada hosts a picnic table in the shade directly next to the splash pad and another big multiple table ramada is on the opposite end, and that’s about it for shade here.

Park

Flatiron Community Park in Apache Junction consists of the splash pad, ramad, and lots of grass for running around. There are public restrooms but no playground.

There is a small hiking trail with a lot of native plants with identifiers.

Along the wall behind the park are beautiful murals. My kids had fun pointing out all of the things they recognized and letters they knew.

I enjoyed this water story and the facts that are published around the park. Great educational opportunity moment.

I’ve seen numerous community events taking place there, including the Apache Junction Library who recently held storytime at this park. If you live in the area, this park is a great addition to the neighborhood.
