Here are some of our best hikes in Phoenix with kids. All of these are located within the City of Phoenix. Winter is the best time to hike with your kids for sure. You can venture out any time of the day and enjoy an adventure.
We have personally done all of these hikes listed below, and have linked to any reviews. Another great way to review a trail is to check AllTrails.
Opt outside this weekend and explore with the family! Even if all of these seem too long of a distance, a half mile is a win. Pick a trail with a nature center or playground nearby for lunch afterwards.

Dreamy Draw Short Loop – 2 miles rt, moderate

Hiking Tips:
- Wear closed toed shoes
- Hats and sunscreen are helpful
- Always share what hike you’re doing with a spouse, or friend
- Bring your phone
- Bring enough water for each person hiking
- Special snacks for kids are good motivators (we love mini donuts)
- Stay on the trail
- And on that note, if the trail becomes too tough, there’s no shame in turning around. Know your limits!
- Text or call a spouse or friend after you’ve finished hiking
