We actually used Mild2Wild in 2020 for a white water rafting adventure while visiting Durango, CO, and loved everything from the service to the guide to the route. So when we heard that they also do Salt River trips, it was obvious we has to go with them again.

It was a blast! Chris, Emily, and Owen did the half day trip option, and experienced some pretty good rapids. The thrill of riding the rapids is memorable for sure! There were mostly Class III rapids, with a couple Class IV on their trip.

There were 15 other boats on the trip, with 6 people per boat. The guide sits in the back, with the remaining people distributed weight wise for balance. The guide had some fun facts about the canyon too, making it educational as well.

Ages 8 and up can join in on half day, full day, or multiple day rafting excursions! Pricing varies, starting at $129/adults and $109/children (ages 8-11) for half day. A half day involves an hour of instruction/walking to the water, an hour on the water, and an hour getting transported back to your car. Do the full day trip for maximum time on the water!

Note that the rafting meet up location is off Hwy 60 near the Salt River Canyon viewpoint, about 2.5 hours from Phoenix, and about 1 hour from Show Low or Pinetop. Wetsuits, helmets, and boots are provided, and lunch on the full day trips.

In addition, you can wear a hat under your helmet, and wear sunscreen as you’re in the full sun the entire trip. Pack an extra pair of clothes in the car for afterwards!

More information and booking can be found on their website. Watch our video here.
