Rio Vista Park in Peoria, located off Thunderbird Road has so much to offer! Rio Vista would be a great place to hold a birthday party or other social event. There are over 13 different covered outdoor ramadas, including grills, to help host the occasion.

Rio Vista park has two large play structures, one for your little explorers and one for your bigger kiddos, with a combined seven total slides. There are swings and several climbing structures. The park is also well shaded, has drinking fountains and bathrooms.

Tucked away behind the ramadas and away from the playgrounds is a splash pad. The Rio Vista splash pad is gated and open from April 15th – October 15th, seven days a week. We had so much fun in their splash pad!

The funniest thing was we have been to this park several times, but because the splash pad is tucked away from the playground, we never knew it was there! We happened to stumble upon it when exploring their bike trails.

Rio Vista park has 16 miles of walking/bicycle trails that include a large bridge. My kids love a  good bridge!

We started our walking trail adventure parked next to the volleyball courts, just across the street from the memorialized helicopter. We continued north past the recreation center along the 2.5 acres of an urban pond. The urban pond is so pretty, with its small waterfalls along the way and several ducks. Rio Vista urban pond also offers fishing, and they are currently stocked with trout, catfish, large bass, sunfish, white amur.

Additional recreation available at Rio Vista Park includes a skatepark, baseball fields, and seven batting cages for baseball and softball. Plus, their large multipurpose fields!

Rio Vista Park in Peoria is also known for its large Veteran’s memorial wall. The Veteran’s wall runs along the urban pond on the west side of the recreation center.

We love this park! It’s one of our favorite community parks in the west valley!
