We love a good library and Sunrise Mountain library in Peoria did not disappoint. They have a giant kid’s area with rows and rows of books, a separate room for storytime with a glass window to peek in, and toys! Yes, the toys are out. The train table glued down is great! I could have left my son there all day! The homemade Lego table and storage container was brilliant. I lost track of how many tables full of puzzles for kids there were. There’s a dollhouse, farm, and much more.
Explore To Go Kits
These kits are available to check out for 7 days, and there is a limit of one at a time. Some they had to offer were yoga, corn hole, golf, something that was camping or hiking, I couldn’t tell, and some biology-related ones.
Different areas throughout the library divided into sections like a Disney area pictured above, a history shelf, and more are very appealing for kids looking to read.
Computers are available for kids to use with adult supervision. These little tables were for toddler games and had earphones for kids to wear.
Great little outdoor area if you need to sneak out for a snack, drink, have a loud conversation, etc. There were a handful of toy trucks out there while we were there. Also, a good spot for older louder kids to play.
They have shelves of recycled books on sale. There is an entire kids shelf, and of course, mine wanted to buy some to bring home.
Their storytime schedule is available here. Note, passes to the story were all grabbed within 5 minutes of the library opening on the day we visited, despite there being an extra storytime added that day. Plan to arrive early, especially during the summertime when kids are out of school.
Getting There
Sunrise Mountain Library in Peoria has a large and shaded parking lot from the library all the way down to the splash pad making it easy to park and walk to all the locations in this area.
